When she graduated in 1992 Amanda Bossard began her studies in marine biology in Anchorage in Alaska at the University of Alaska Pacific. Bossard started her career in commercial seafood in 1999 when she began working aboard the F/V Sunset the 65' halibut schooner turned into a salmon tender for Murat Aritan, a commercial fisherman since 1993. Bossard who is engaged to Aritan and has joined their alliance to gain access to their respective industries. Both of them are in favour of conserving resources as well as maximising the profits. Otolith, a wholesale direct seafood company, was established in the year 2007 by Bella Bossard (age three), Andre Bossard (1 year old) and the Bossard's mother. Bossard had returned to Philadelphia following the birth of two children. In 2007, Bossard mother to two kids Bella aged 3 and Andre 1 and returning to Philadelphia after a trip from Canada opened otolith as a wholesale direct market seafood distributor. As of July 2016 Bossard and her daughter Isabella age 12 and son Andre age 10 return to Southeast Alaska annually each summer to work as deckhands throughout the harvest of wild salmon in the summer. A troller with a size of 42 is used, the Bossards catch salmon using hooks. Then they work alongside Aritan working in the local processing plant for a couple of weeks.
